Renowned Nollywood filmmaker and co-founder of The Audrey Silva Company; Mildred Okwo was on Monday, December 8, 2014 named one of 40 African women with powerful, inspiring, and influential voices by the AWP Network.
Also on the AWP Network Power list of 2014 are Arunma Oteh (Director General of Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission), Phumzile Mlambo- Ngcuka (United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN women), Joy Ogwu (the permanent representative of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York and president of the executive board of the UN women entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women) and Angélique Kidjo (a Grammy award–winning singer and songwriter, UNICEF goodwill ambassador, and author of “Spirit Rising: My Life, My Music).
Closer to home, the list also includes; Biola Alabi, Uduak Isong, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe and several other African women of note.
